Positive Practice Partnership - Developing Excellence in Family Recovery

ACRA training courses

Welcome, please take a look around...

ACRA is an evidence-based programme which employs behavioural learning to help 12- to 18-year-olds change their lifestyle to make healthy, substance misuse-free living more rewarding than alcohol and drug misuse.

Commissioners and service managers are working with us to embed this methodology locally – resulting in improved lives for families and stronger performance in service delivery.

Based on environment being key in determining substance misuse, the programme teaches individuals how to examine the positive and negative triggers and consequences for their behaviour. It also offers skills in problem solving, drug refusal and communication.

ACRA helps families to understand the acknowledged important role of an adolescent’s carer. Its broad aims are to:

  • build motivation to give up substance misuse
  • help support sober living
  • analyse substance misuse patterns
  • increase positive reinforcement
  • learn new coping behaviours
  • involve concerned significant others in the recovery process
